Ordering & quoting process
Simply fill out the quote request form on our homepage or contact page. Tell us your packaging type, quantity, and any specifications — we'll respond with a detailed, itemised quote in USD within 24 business hours. There's no obligation and no cost to get a quote.
We guarantee a response within 24 business hours for all quote requests. For complex or multi-product orders, it may take up to 48 hours to prepare an accurate, detailed quote. If you're in a rush, message us on WhatsApp and we'll prioritise your request.
Yes. We strongly encourage sample orders before committing to large quantities. We can produce a small sample run or a physical proof so you can verify quality, colour accuracy, and structural integrity before production begins. Sample costs and lead times vary — contact us for details.
To place an order, we'll need: the packaging type and dimensions, quantity, your artwork files (or a brief for our design team), preferred material and finish, your US delivery address, and timeline requirements. Our team will guide you through anything we need at every step.
We accept bank wire transfers, PayPal, and major credit cards. All pricing is in USD. For first-time orders, we typically require a 50% deposit before production begins, with the remainder due before shipping. Returning clients may qualify for different terms.
Client satisfaction is our priority. If your order doesn't match the approved proof or specifications, we will reprint at our cost. Before production, you'll receive and approve a full digital proof. We send pre-shipment quality photos for your review on every order. Issues are extremely rare but if they occur, we resolve them quickly and fairly.
Shipping & delivery to the US
Standard sea freight takes 18–25 days from production completion to your US address. Air freight is available for time-sensitive orders and typically takes 5–8 days. We'll recommend the best shipping method based on your timeline and order size. All lead times are quoted honestly from day one — no surprises.
For standard orders: 3–5 days for design and approval, plus 7–10 days production, plus 5–8 days air freight = approximately 15–23 days total. Sea freight orders add approximately 18–25 days for shipping. Rush production is available for an additional fee, which can reduce the production phase to 4–5 days.
Yes, we ship to all 50 US states including Alaska and Hawaii. We can also deliver to US warehouses, fulfilment centres (including Amazon FBA warehouses), and freight forwarders. Just provide us with your destination address and we'll include accurate shipping costs in your quote.
Customs clearance into the US is handled as part of the shipping arrangement. Import duties and taxes (if applicable) are the responsibility of the buyer and are standard for imported goods. For most packaging products, US import duties are low — we'll include estimated duty figures in your quote so there are no surprises at the border.
Absolutely. Every shipment comes with full tracking details. We send you tracking information as soon as your order ships and we monitor every shipment proactively. If there are any delays or issues in transit, we'll notify you immediately and work to resolve them.
Minimum quantities & pricing
Our minimum order quantities vary by product type. For most folding cartons and mailer boxes, the MOQ is 250–500 units. For rigid boxes and luxury packaging, the MOQ is typically 100–250 units. If you need smaller quantities, contact us — we may be able to accommodate lower MOQs depending on the product and specifications.
On average, our clients save 40–60% compared to equivalent US-based packaging suppliers. The saving depends on the product type, quantity, and specifications. Larger orders yield greater savings. Custom mailer boxes, folding cartons, and food packaging typically show the highest savings. Request a quote and compare — we're confident in our pricing.
Yes, significantly. Packaging manufacturing has high setup costs (plates, dies, tooling) that are spread across the print run. Ordering 2,000 units vs 500 units typically reduces the per-unit cost by 30–50%. We'll always show you price breaks at multiple quantity tiers in your quote so you can make an informed decision.
No. Our quotes are fully itemised and include all production costs, finishing, quality inspection, and standard packaging. Shipping costs are quoted separately and clearly. Import duties are estimated and disclosed upfront. The only potential additional cost is rush production (if requested) or significant artwork revisions beyond the included free design support. We will always tell you about any additional cost before it is incurred.
Yes. Returning clients receive preferential pricing, and bulk orders above certain thresholds qualify for additional discounts. We also offer a reseller and agency programme for businesses ordering on behalf of multiple clients. Contact us to discuss long-term pricing arrangements.
Design & artwork support
Yes — free design support is included with every order. Our team can work from your existing brand assets, a rough idea, or a brief. We produce a complete structural dieline and print-ready artwork for your approval. You can request revisions until you're satisfied. For orders with very complex or extensive design work, there may be a small design fee — this will always be discussed and agreed upfront.
We accept Adobe Illustrator (.ai), PDF, EPS, and high-resolution PSD files. Artwork should be provided in CMYK colour mode at 300 DPI minimum. If you only have RGB files or low-resolution assets, our design team can advise on the best approach. We always provide a digital proof for approval before going to print, regardless of the format you supply.
Yes. If you don't have existing artwork, our design team can create your packaging design from the ground up. Just share your brand guidelines (logo, colours, fonts), your product details, and any inspiration or references. We'll produce a full design for your review. Basic design from scratch is included at no extra charge for standard orders.
Once artwork is finalised, we send you a full digital proof showing every panel of your packaging exactly as it will print. You review and either approve or request changes. We do not begin production until you have given written approval. For larger orders, we also offer a physical press proof (printed sample) before the full production run — this adds a few days but eliminates any risk of colour discrepancy.
We use offset lithographic printing for most orders — the gold standard for packaging, delivering sharp text, accurate colours, and consistent results across large runs. For smaller quantities, digital printing is available. Finishing options include matte and gloss lamination, soft-touch lamination, foil stamping, embossing, debossing, spot UV, and custom die-cuts.

Three factors that shape every quote.

Understanding these helps you plan your order and budget accurately.

📦 Quantity
The single biggest driver of per-unit cost. Setup costs (plates, dies, tooling) are fixed — the more units you order, the lower each unit costs. Ordering 2,000 units instead of 500 can reduce per-unit cost by 40–50%. We always show multiple quantity tiers in every quote.
✨ Materials & finishes
Standard materials (SBS board, kraft, corrugated) are the most economical. Rigid boards, specialty papers, and premium substrates add cost. Finishes like soft-touch lamination, foil stamping, and embossing each add to the unit price — but they also elevate your brand significantly. We'll always quote the finish options clearly.
🚚 Shipping method
Sea freight is significantly cheaper than air freight but takes 18–25 days. Air freight is 5–8 days but costs more per kg. For smaller, lighter orders, air freight often makes economic sense. For bulk orders, sea freight is almost always the better value. We'll recommend the right option for your timeline and budget.

How to choose the right custom mailer box for your Shopify brand

If you run a Shopify store, your custom mailer box is the first physical experience your customer has with your brand. It arrives at their door, it gets picked up, shaken, opened — and if you've got it right, photographed and shared. If you've got it wrong, it ends up in the trash with your brand barely noticed.

Choosing the right custom mailer box involves more decisions than most first-time buyers expect. This guide covers everything you need to know — from box styles and materials to print options, quantities, and how to avoid the most common and expensive mistakes.

The three mailer box styles every Shopify brand should know

Not all mailer boxes are created equal. Before you design anything, you need to understand which box structure suits your product.

1. Standard mailer box (roll-end tuck-top)

The most popular choice for e-commerce. These boxes have a simple tuck flap at the top and bottom, making them easy to pack quickly. They're self-locking — no tape needed — and they lay completely flat for efficient storage. If you're shipping soft goods, cosmetics, or medium-weight products, this is likely your best starting point.

2. One-piece folder mailer

Better for flat or thin products like books, prints, stationery, or apparel. The box folds into shape from a single piece of board, keeping pack times low. Less structural than a standard mailer but excellent for lightweight items where the unboxing experience is secondary to economy.

3. Two-piece rigid mailer

The premium option. A separate lid and base, usually made from thicker board, creates a luxury unboxing experience that photographs beautifully and communicates high perceived value. Used by premium beauty brands, jewellery companies, and subscription boxes that want the "reveal" moment. Higher cost and weight, but the brand impact is significant.

"Your packaging is your silent salesperson. It keeps selling — and keeps your brand in the room — long after the product is out of the box."

Corrugated vs. cardboard: which material is right for you?

This is the most misunderstood decision in packaging. Here's the plain-language breakdown:

  • Cardboard (SBS board) — smooth, premium-feeling surface. Takes ink beautifully. Ideal for lighter products that don't need heavy protection. Most cosmetics, apparel, and small consumer goods use this. Not ideal for heavy or fragile items.
  • Corrugated board — the fluted (wavy) inner layer gives it structural strength and cushioning. Heavier and thicker than SBS. Essential for fragile items, electronics, glassware, or anything over 2–3 lbs. The surface is more textured, which affects print quality slightly — though modern offset printing on corrugated is impressively sharp.

For most Shopify brands shipping soft goods, skincare, or small consumer items under 2 lbs, standard SBS cardboard mailer boxes are the right choice. For food delivery kits, fragile products, or heavy items, corrugated is the safer call.

Print options: inside printing, outside printing, or both?

This is where budget decisions start to matter. Here's what each option adds to your brand experience:

Outside only

The most economical option. Your branding, logo, and design appear on the exterior. The inside is plain white or kraft. For most budget-conscious brands, this is perfectly adequate — the outside is what the customer sees first and photographs most often.

Outside + inside print

Adding a branded interior transforms the unboxing experience. A coloured interior with a brand message, pattern, or artwork creates the moment customers photograph and post to social media. If your brand is selling products above $40–$50 retail, inside printing almost always pays for itself in brand engagement and repeat purchases.

Full custom design both sides

The highest impact. Full bleed artwork inside and outside, including structural details like the tuck flap interior. Used by premium brands and subscription boxes. Adds cost but maximises the unboxing experience for audiences where that matters.

Quantities: what to order for your first run

One of the most common mistakes first-time packaging buyers make is either over-ordering (tying up cash in stock they don't need) or under-ordering (running out and having to reorder at a higher per-unit price).

For most Shopify brands placing their first order, 500 units is a sensible starting point. It's enough to get a meaningful per-unit price break without overcommitting. If you're selling 100+ units per month, order 1,000–2,000 for greater savings. If you're just launching, 250 units may be more appropriate to manage cash flow while testing your design.

Always request pricing at multiple quantity tiers when you get a quote — the jump from 500 to 1,000 units is often only a 15–20% increase in total cost but a 40–50% reduction in per-unit price.

Finishing options that make the biggest difference

The right finish can elevate a good box into a great one. Here are the finishes that deliver the best value-to-impact ratio for e-commerce brands:

  • Matte lamination — the default choice for most premium brands. Soft, sophisticated look. Fingerprint-resistant. Pairs beautifully with minimalist or luxury aesthetics.
  • Gloss lamination — vibrant, shiny finish. Makes colours pop. Better for bold, colourful brands. More fingerprint-prone than matte.
  • Soft-touch lamination — the premium tier. Velvety, tactile surface that feels luxurious in the hands. Higher cost but creates an immediate quality impression before the box is even opened.
  • Spot UV — a clear gloss coating applied to specific design elements (your logo, a pattern, a headline). Creates a contrast effect between matte and gloss areas that looks and feels intentional and premium.

What to expect from the ordering process

Custom food packaging for small US bakeries: a complete guide

The US bakery industry generates over $50 billion in annual revenue — and independent bakeries account for a significant share of that. But while many small bakeries invest deeply in their recipes, their packaging often lags behind. Plain white boxes from a restaurant supply store don't tell your brand story. They don't get photographed. They don't build loyalty.

Custom packaging is no longer just for large food brands. With the right supplier, a small bakery can have professional, branded packaging at quantities as low as 250 boxes — and at prices that make genuine business sense.

This guide covers everything a small US bakery needs to know about ordering custom food packaging: what types exist, what to look for, what it costs, and how to avoid the most common mistakes.

Why custom food packaging matters for small bakeries

Before getting into specifics, it's worth establishing why this investment is worth making in the first place. Here are three concrete reasons:

It builds brand recognition

A customer who takes your cake box home and puts it on their kitchen counter has given you free advertising for days. A box with your logo, your brand colours, and your name on it does marketing work long after the transaction. Generic white boxes do none of this.

It justifies premium pricing

Branded packaging signals quality before the product is even tasted. Studies consistently show that consumers are willing to pay 15–30% more for products in premium-feeling packaging. If your bakery is positioned at the higher end of the market, your packaging needs to match.

It drives social sharing

Food content is among the most shared on Instagram and TikTok. A beautiful box — opened on camera, revealing your product — is content your customers will create for you for free. Generic packaging gets tossed. Branded packaging gets filmed.

The main types of bakery packaging

Not all bakery products use the same type of box. Here's a quick guide to the most common types and when to use each:

Window boxes

Boxes with a clear acetate window panel that lets customers see the product inside. Essential for cookies, macarons, cupcakes, and anything where visual appeal drives the purchase. The window turns every box into a display case.

Standard tuck-top boxes

The workhorse of bakery packaging. Simple, economical, and versatile. Used for cakes, muffins, brownies, and most baked goods. Available in a huge range of sizes. The entire exterior surface is printable — use it well.

Cake boxes (with or without boards)

Deeper boxes designed specifically for whole cakes. Available in square and round configurations, with matching cake boards available. Full-colour printing on all panels. For tiered cakes, custom sizing is available — specify your dimensions when quoting.

Gable boxes

The box with the folded handle on top. Excellent for takeaway pastry assortments, gift boxes, and seasonal holiday packaging. The handle makes them convenient to carry and the shape is distinctive — customers notice them.

Donut and macaron boxes

Specialised boxes designed for their specific products, often with inserts to hold individual items in place. For macarons especially, the insert is critical — macarons shift and chip in transit without proper housing.

"The best marketing a bakery can do is put something beautiful in a beautiful box. The box stays in the room after the cake is gone."

Materials: what food packaging is made from

Food packaging materials fall into two main categories. Understanding them helps you make the right choice for your product and price point.

SBS board (solid bleached sulphate)

The most common material for bakery boxes. Smooth, white, and excellent for printing. Food-safe and suitable for most dry bakery goods. Comes in various thicknesses — 350–400 gsm is standard for most boxes; heavier boards are used for rigid cake boxes or premium packaging.

Kraft board

The natural brown paper look. Popular with artisan bakeries, farm-to-table brands, and businesses with an eco-friendly identity. Slightly more rustic appearance, which works beautifully with earthy or natural brand aesthetics. Fully food-safe. Takes ink slightly differently from SBS — discuss with your supplier before designing.

Important note on food safety: All food packaging should use food-safe inks and coatings. Ensure your supplier confirms this before ordering. At Veltra Global, all food packaging is produced with food-safe materials as standard.

Quantities and pricing: what to expect

This is where most small bakeries get either surprised or excited. Here's the honest picture:

Minimum order quantities for custom printed bakery boxes typically start at 250–500 units per box type. If you carry five types of boxes (cake, cupcake, cookie, macaron, gable), you'll need to plan separate minimum runs for each. Many bakeries start by customising their highest-volume box first, then add others as volumes grow.

Per-unit costs drop significantly with volume. At 500 units, a standard custom printed tuck-top box might cost $0.45–$0.85 per unit depending on size and specification. At 2,000 units, the same box might be $0.25–$0.50. Always ask for pricing at multiple quantities — the economics often make it worth ordering more upfront.

Total investment for a first run of 500 custom cake boxes from a supplier like Veltra Global typically falls in the range of $300–$600 depending on size, board weight, and any special finishes. This is substantially less than most bakeries expect — and far less than equivalent US-based suppliers charge for the same specification.

Five mistakes small bakeries make with packaging

  1. Using the wrong box size. A cake box that's too large lets the cake slide around in transit. Too small and the lid won't close cleanly. Always specify your product dimensions precisely when getting a quote — a good supplier will recommend the correct box size.
  2. Designing for screen instead of print. RGB colours look very different from CMYK printed colours. Always ask for a colour-accurate digital proof before approving production. Better yet, request a physical sample for your first order.
  3. Ordering too many types at once. It's tempting to customise everything on your first order. Start with your highest-volume item first. Learn from that run before expanding to your full box range.
  4. Skipping the finish. Plain printed card without a laminate finish looks cheaper than it should. Matte or gloss lamination adds a small cost per unit but a large improvement in perceived quality. Always include at least a basic finish on your branded boxes.
  5. Not planning lead time. Custom packaging from overseas takes 3–4 weeks door to door. If you need boxes for a holiday rush, order 6 weeks in advance. Running out of boxes the week before Thanksgiving is an avoidable crisis.

Getting started with your first order

The process is simpler than most bakery owners expect. At Veltra Global, it starts with a free quote request. Tell us your box type, dimensions, quantity, and any design ideas or brand guidelines. We'll come back within 24 hours with detailed pricing in USD.

Our design team then produces your artwork — free, included with every order. You review, request changes, and approve. Production takes 7–10 days, followed by 5–8 days air freight to your US location.

From quote approval to delivery: approximately 3 weeks. Plan accordingly and your shelves will never go bare.

Luxury cosmetic packaging on a startup budget: what's actually possible

Walk into any Sephora or scroll through any beauty brand's Instagram and the packaging tells you the price before you see the number. Thick board. Soft-touch finish. Precise foil stamping on the logo. A magnetic closure that snaps shut with a satisfying click. These cues signal value — and they work.

The question most indie beauty founders ask is: can I afford that? The honest answer: yes, with the right supplier and the right decisions. This guide walks you through exactly what luxury cosmetic packaging costs, which elements deliver the most perceived value per dollar, and how to get a premium result without a premium budget.

What makes cosmetic packaging feel "luxury"?

Before budgeting, it's worth understanding which elements actually move the needle on perceived quality. Not all premium-looking features are expensive. Some of the most impactful choices cost very little extra:

Board thickness

This is the single most underrated factor. Thin card feels cheap regardless of how well it's printed. Moving from standard 300 gsm to 400 gsm board adds a small cost per unit but a significant improvement in how the box feels in the hand. For rigid boxes, the chipboard core does the structural work — a 2mm or 3mm board feels dramatically more substantial than a 1mm board.

Lamination finish

The surface finish on your box is the first tactile impression. Soft-touch (also called velvet) lamination is the finish most associated with luxury beauty brands. It feels exactly as described — like touching velvet or suede. It's more expensive than standard matte or gloss lamination, but the difference in perceived quality is immediately apparent to anyone who picks it up. For brands selling products above $30, soft-touch lamination almost always pays for itself in customer perception.

Foil stamping

A small area of metallic foil — usually just on your logo — communicates premium positioning more effectively than almost any other single design element. Gold and rose gold foils are most common in beauty. Silver works well for clinical or science-forward brands. The foil doesn't need to cover much surface area to be effective — a foil-stamped logo on a matte black box is one of the most reliably premium-looking combinations in beauty packaging.

Structural precision

Luxury feels precise. Lids that fit snugly. Edges that are sharp and clean. Printing that aligns perfectly across seams. This is as much about choosing a quality manufacturer as it is about design. Poor print registration or sloppy die-cutting immediately undermines a luxury impression regardless of the finish.

"The difference between $12 packaging and $3 packaging isn't always the cost — it's the decisions. A thick board and a soft-touch finish on a simple design beats thin card with elaborate graphics every time."

Box types for cosmetic brands: what to use when

Folding cartons

The standard for most cosmetic products — skincare, serums, lip products, eye products. Manufactured flat and erected at packing time. Very efficient to produce and store. The most economical option for high-volume SKUs. With the right finish and board weight, folding cartons can look genuinely premium.

Rigid set-up boxes

The pinnacle of cosmetic packaging. A rigid box is pre-constructed — it doesn't fold flat. The thick chipboard core is wrapped in printed paper or fabric, creating the kind of box that customers keep long after the product is used. Magnetic closure versions (where the lid snaps shut with a magnet) are particularly popular for gift sets, fragrance, and prestige skincare. Higher cost than folding cartons but also a dramatically higher perceived value — and customers often reuse them, keeping your brand in their home.

Drawer boxes

A sliding inner tray pulled from an outer sleeve. The reveal moment as the inner tray slides out is a designed experience that photographs and films beautifully. Slightly more complex to produce than standard two-piece rigid boxes. Very popular for jewellery, premium skincare, and subscription beauty boxes.

What does luxury cosmetic packaging actually cost?

Here's where founders are often pleasantly surprised. These are realistic per-unit cost ranges for well-specified cosmetic packaging ordered through a quality overseas supplier like Veltra Global at 500-unit quantities:

  • Folding carton, 400 gsm, matte lamination: $0.35–$0.65 per unit
  • Folding carton, 400 gsm, soft-touch lamination + foil logo: $0.65–$1.10 per unit
  • Two-piece rigid box, 2mm board, matte wrap: $1.80–$3.20 per unit
  • Two-piece rigid box, magnetic closure, soft-touch + foil: $2.80–$4.50 per unit
  • Drawer box, 2mm board, printed sleeve: $2.50–$4.00 per unit

Compare these to US-equivalent suppliers and you'll typically find prices 40–60% higher for the same specification. For a brand ordering 500 units of a rigid magnetic box, the difference between a US supplier and Veltra Global can easily be $1,000–$2,000 on a single order.

Five decisions that give you the most luxury per dollar

  1. Choose soft-touch lamination over gloss. Gloss is cheaper but soft-touch communicates premium more effectively. The price difference at 500 units is often $50–$80 total. Almost always worth it for beauty brands.
  2. Add foil stamping to your logo only. Full-surface foiling is expensive. A small foil stamp on just the logo costs a fraction of the price and delivers most of the visual impact. Start there.
  3. Invest in board thickness. Move up one weight tier in your board — from 300 to 400 gsm, or from 1.5mm to 2mm chipboard for rigid boxes. The tactile improvement is significant; the cost increase is modest.
  4. Keep the design clean. Maximalist packaging with many colours and complex graphics is actually harder to make look luxury. A simple, well-typeset design on quality material looks more expensive than a busy design on cheaper material.
  5. Order 1,000 instead of 500. The per-unit price drop from 500 to 1,000 units is often 30–40%. If your product has a shelf life of more than 3–4 months, ordering double is almost always the economically smarter decision.

Common mistakes to avoid

Designing in RGB and approving in RGB. Your screen uses RGB light. Your printer uses CMYK ink. Colours shift — sometimes significantly. Always review a CMYK-converted proof and discuss any colour-critical elements (especially skin tones and brand-specific colours) with your supplier before production.

Neglecting the unboxing experience. What's inside the box matters too. A tissue paper wrap, a branded insert card, or a custom foam insert adds almost nothing to cost but transforms the unboxing experience. These details are what customers photograph and remember.

Ordering too late. Luxury cosmetic packaging — especially rigid boxes — requires longer production times than standard folding cartons. Allow 3–4 weeks from quote approval to your US door. For product launches or holiday campaigns, plan 6–8 weeks ahead.

The bottom line for indie beauty founders

Luxury packaging is achievable at startup scale. The key is making the right decisions about where to invest — board thickness, finish, foil placement — and choosing a supplier who can execute precisely at the quantities you need.
